Standing beneath a street light
I drag on a cigarette and watch
the smoke billow upward
The wind blows and sweeps
away the white wisps
down the avenue
on which traffic flows.
It is late, people that
walk by me smell of booze
and a girl in a cab, stopped
at a stop light, lifts up
her shirt, and shows me
her mammalian mountains,
with big sloppy nipples that
look like squashed cherries.
I wave.
What was I to say.
Take me with you baby,
and make all my fantasies
come true, me with you
and two of your friends,
hoping it never ends,
but it will never even
begin, because I am going
home, by myself,
to take the pipe
from my shelf, stuff it full,
light the lighter, breathe in the smoke and
forget a wasted night.
